David Dollar turned his first “bespoke” fountain pen at a class taught by Jim Hinze (Hinze Pens). It was clear that while he wanted to move into bespoke pens, he also needed more tools and experience. After making 75 or so pens, in September 2021, David adapted his method and created his style of writing instruments.
While David is also a collector of other makers’ writing instruments, he does not copy their shapes. Today, David has launched three collections of writing instruments (Liberty, Ike, and Mercury) all varying in different colors and design elements with the little nuances that make his fine writing instruments unique. Dave Dollar Bespoke Pens strive to create practical works of everyday art that people can enjoy.
Dave Dollar Bespoke Pens can be viewed on his website: davedollarcustompens.com and in person at the Baltimore/Washington International Pen Show March 10-11-12, 2023.
