Year 1 – 2012
The first Fountain Pen Day was celebrated on November 2nd, 2012, to help embrace, promote, and share the use of fountain pens in day-to-day life and to help revive handwriting as a whole.
Their goal for the first year was to promote and get the news about Fountain Pen Day out there. They hoped that by using a grassroots, word-of-mouth marketing method, a steady increase and noticeable spread of Fountain Pen Day influence and popularity in the years to come.

Number of participating vendors: 49
Number of those celebrating: Approximately 600.
While the previous years were about spreading the word and building Fountain Pen Day, there has been more hands-on with pen clubs and pen shows. As well as a lot of Fountain Pen Day swag being sent out and made available to supporters. The shows and fairs being set up around the weekend have also seen an increase. Bloggers have also received a fair amount of swag to give away.
