Founded in 1838 as a manufacturer of paints, inks, and dyes, Pelikan underwent a series of product line changes until it presented the world with the first piston filler fountain pen in 1929. However, the basic concept has remained unchanged for over 90 years with few changes.
About Tom Baley:
Tom Baley’s great aunt taught him to use fountain pens in the late 1950s and gave him a Scheaffer school pen. He bought his first fountain pen in the fall of 1966, became an avid accumulator (undisciplined collector), stopped collecting for 25 years to raise three boys, resumed collecting with several focuses, always narrowing the emphasis, eventually to Pelikans, both vintage and new. Several years ago he founded The Pen Man.
Don’t miss this fascinating seminar about Pelikan’s pre-World War II history with Tom Baley. He is an expert on the history of Pelikan Pens, Germany, and will bring around 500 vintage pens for this special event.
